What is a Hapa?

I like The Cornell Hapa Association's chosen definition. Simply, anyone of mixed blood.

Let's be honest here. A case can be made that almost every human being has a mixed background, as long as you go back far enough. But most people who self-identify as Hapa trace their mix to one or two generations. I support anyone who wants to go back further than that, but it normally doesn't happen.

Now Hapas come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, by definition. And it's those visual characteristics and the biases of others that usually define how people interact with us at first. We're all going to be treated differently and have different experiences, so what brings us together? What really makes a Hapa a Hapa?

That's what this Blog is really about. It might seem random and fragmented. But hey, that's what we are: random, fragmented. Complicated.
